'75 CB750 headlight mounting options
« on: June 20, 2008, 09:45:10 PM »
i'm  wondering what others have done to mount their headlights without using these ears. do they come off when the fork leg is pulled through the clamps? anyway i'd like to do away with them if i can find some other option.

G`day eastoak
I`m using the instrument/ignition mount set-up, it has the arms for the headlight on the metal mounting frame, my bike didnt have those ears on the forks when i bought it. Havent got any pics at the moment sorry, its all torn apart for painting right now.

There are a bunch of after market head light ears available.

this is a zoom of an old image i have, the mount usually bolts to the top of the bar mount, but here its on the fairing mount

The mounting under the frame that bolts to the fairing mount is my own addition

Also check out these from Mike's XS:

(click the picture - they're at the bottom of the page)

I bought a set like what is in the other link. They work and all, but they're kind of cheap. I bought another set for my wife's bike. They cost a little more, but the quality is worth it.

Thanks for the mounting bracket info. I just picked up a Honda CB750F and it had a vintage Vetter Farrinig on it, but the factory head lamp and all the mounting hardware were removed. I was out bid for a factory set of 77' Supersport mounting ears today, on Ebay and was a bit frustrated.

It seems these mounts will work to mount up a factory head lamp. I'll have to figure out out I can mount the turn indicators, as the 77' Supersport bikes have them coming from the side of the headlight mounts.

At least this gives me hope that I can make it work.

If you use the the ones from the site shenanigans mentioned you can mount the indicators in the extra holes on the mount.

Void909,

Good point on the turn signals. I also found a number of mounts at the site KB02 provided on this thread. Some even also have rubber shock mounts. I think I can make it all work with these mounts. The purest in me wants to do it like the factory, but I'll have to keep looking for those part as they available themselves.

Thanks to those who have assisted in providing info to a newbie!
