New CB550 Owner, Nice to Be Here (photos added)

I'm sooo glad I found this message board! Looks like it will be real helpful and hope I can give back when I get more familiar with my old/new ride. Picked up a sweet '75 CB550 just a couple weeks ago. It's in great shape, just 6,500 miles and very clean. Needs some maintenance work; rebuild front calipers and master cylinder and I'm thinking a valve adjustment-- got a tapping sound and some pipe discoloration on one cylinder.

Years ago had a Honda 400 Hawk, then started riding my son's stylin' '73 BMW 750 "toaster". Got that itch back and I just had to scratch.

Last night I was reading replies to some newbie posts and was totally awed by the quality and friendliness of the feedback.

Welcome, you will get the best information around on these pages. More than once many people gave me help that would be hard to find elsewhere. Where are you from?

Hi, James, and thanks for the welcome. I'm from Cincinnati, and feel rather lucky as I discovered cruising the web for 550 info a place here called Westwood Honda. They stock all kinds of vintage Japanese bike parts, one of the best in the country, I'm told. Picked up my brake rebuild kits there the other day along with an oil filter. Inquired about a back up ignition key and sure enough, they had one of those. Think I'll be getting to know Terry, who runs the vintage parts side of the business, real well!

Hi, Mark,
And thanks for the welcome. I've been to Union City a few times. I buy lumber at Frank Miller Lumber Co. there. Another hobby of mine is woodworking, but I can see with the new wheels I won't be getting so much shop time in, at least while the weather is good.

James,

Steeler fan? Don't think so. But don't think I'm a fan of the Bungles either!

Hi fellow Cincinnatian,
I live near Mariemont and ride a '75 CB550.
I'm new to the forum as well, and have found a ton of invaluable info here.
I know you mentioned the honda dealer in Westwood being a good source for parts.
Do you know of any others in the area?
I have a pesky gear shaft oil seal that leaks and I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere.
If I pass you on 275, I'll be sure to wave.
Thanks,
Charlie
