Mystery Speedometers
« on: August 07, 2008, 11:58:36 AM »
What year and model do these speedos come from?  The 150 mph speedo has the trip odometer on bottom w/ knob on side; the 120 mph speedo has the trip odometer on top w/ reset knob on the back. Both have green faces.

Probably doesn't help...... however....

The one with the knob on the back is in the configuration for a 72 K2 speedo....with the exception of the 120 MPH markings.

On the K2 750 the knobs on the back and the odometer/tripometer windows are reversed just like the one in the picture.

Just lacks the 150 of the 750.....perhaps that narrows down the year to 71-72 vintage.

Maybe a 450 speedo?

They are 1975 or later. The lowered window for the 10ths started in 1975. The CB550's had the larger gauges, but that 120 throws me off. I thought they stopped at 110.

I don't ever remember seeing a 150 unit.

I'm watching to see where these go -

Gordon
Kaws, Hondas, Yamahas, and Suzukis - especially Kaws

You'll all note that the picture makes those gauges look two different sizes......

The big one is a 73 and later 750 unit.

It is a bit hard to see the colour properly, but Honda used a light green for 1976 only.
My view is that the 0-120 is a 550 and the other is a 73-75 750.
If the green is a lightish green then they are 1976 gauges
NB The K2 speedos were clamped on, not bolted as those gauges. From the K3 on, the gauges were bolt on except for Australia and a few places where Honda kept on using the clamp on gauges until 1974
