Well I'm pretty sure I have eliminated all other factors as to why my hydro clutch isn't working. I have no reason to believe that my problem isn't simply that the master cylinder isn't moving enough fluid (from a different viewpoint, one could also attribute this to a slave cylinder that has too great of a cross section.) The setup is from a 1985 vf1000r. MC and slave are matching from that bike, and for
that bike, I'm sure they work great. But from what I have been able to observe, my bike (1976 cb750k) the inward stroke/thrust against the pressure plate is more than the vf1000r combo can provide.
My options seem to be these:
-revert back to a cable setup. I know this works, and it will mean one less task to persue, meaning a quicker back-on-the-road time. Going to do this for sure - already sourced the perch/lever/control (thanks vw dan)
Focusing again on the hydro issue:
-place my setup with different MC and slave
-replace MC only, but with a larger piston/bore (for more fluid movement to the large slave piston)
-replace slave, but with a smaller piston (for more movement from the same size MC piston)
I know things are working with the setup, after yet another bleeding, I can hear things moving underneath the adapter plate I machined, but when I throw the bike into gear and grab a handful of clutch lever, things just do not want to engage/disengage.
To tell you the truth, I'm actually getting anxious for the cable clutch again. I may have gotten fed up with the broken cable issue that seems to haunt me, but at least it was cut and dry. I guess it's a good thing I like making stuff work, otherwise I'd be fed up by now
