Greetings to All;
I purchased an unmolested 1977 CB750K yesterday with 11K miles.
The bike is in great shape, other than front brake issues, and what sounds like cam chain noise.

I have a genuine Honda shop service manual on the way, but in the meantime, I'd like to get parts ordered to fix the front brake and take care of general maintenance, so I have a few questions.

Does anyone have a good source and part numbers for a front caliper and master cylinder rebuild kits?
Bike Bandit has the individual items, but I was hoping to find packaged kits.
I'm pretty sure the master cylinder is the problem, as there is no brake pressure.

While I have things apart, replacing the hose with a braided SS version seems like a good idea.
Does anyone have a Galfer or similar brand part number / specs for a '77 CB750K SS hose?

Concerning the chain noise, my guess is that I need to adjust the cam chain tensioner, and possibly go into the engine further.
I'm more used to the various sounds of large displacement V-Twins, so it may be that the noise is normal.

What is the best electronic ignition retrofit kit?  Dyna-S?

Hello there!
Nice find.

I have a 78 750F.
My rear brakes had no pressure when i got it. I bled it and it made no difference.
So i pulled the master cylinder and pulled it apart. It was full of congealed old nasty brake fluid that had thickened up or something. I pulled off the all rubber parts and soaked the whole works minus the rubber in carb dip for a few hours and then blew everything out with compressed air. i cleaned the rubber with new brake fluid and my fingers by just gently rubbing them. I put it all back together, bled the system and it worked fine. Give it a try, even if it doesnt work for you at least you will allready have it cleaned so all you will have to do is replace your rubbers.

As for the calipers, i believe the only real vulnerable part in there that needs to be replaced are the piston seals unless your bleeder is gnarled too. I just got a new one for my cousins 77 550k. I think the 750F uses two pistons in the rear per caliper and in the front you only need one per caliper.

sound like your well on your way, check out hondamans ignition setups, sounds like a great price, and trustworthy, do a search on it. where are ya in KS? close to missouri?

Yep, I've read a few of Hondaman's ignition posts and am considering his system.

Hello Jet...
Sounds like you got a bike like mine...found it with 10,000 miles and still in stock condition. It had never even been tuned...points screws were still virgin!<G>
I'm running the Hondaman box and it works great...and can be converted back to points easily if there were ever a problem.
Definitely makes for a smoother idle and seems to wake up the mid and top end quite a bit.

re: cam chain noise, adjusting it's easy.  unlikely your have cam chain damage at 11k, some folks don't consider replacing the chain until 50k.  have read here carb synch may decrease "rattling coins in a can" noise.  a previous K bike had ape hangers, so i replaced 55inces of rubber line w/a steel braided line from Helusa.  excellant service and well known so order early.  brakes had better feel, but still has 30 year old brake performance.
