I painted a tank, fenders, and side covers for a friend for his 82 or 83 cb650, I forget what year. I painted it for free under the provision that I could do it however I wanted lol. So giant flakes it was!!! I have some on the bike pics too, havn't uploaded those yet though. The flakes also have a phase change to them, look blue or green depending on the angle...and some shades in between.

for those of you that care, I painted the whole tank and fenders white, masked off the lines, painted the rest black base, then used the metallic/phase change mid coat, then took the masking off and cleared the whole pieces. Not bad for an hour or so of work lol.

Kewl.

I'm alright with the giant flakes idea, but that phase change effect, I just don't care for it.  I've seen a number of bikes with that effect, and ... eh.

Maybe giant flakes of red, or burnt orange...  :)

well the problem is most phase change colors always have that ugly greenish purple hue to them, the newer stuff does not. My bike is going to be bright orange with giant orange and yellow flake lol. With the obligatory knee dents which i'll be painting white pearl...

I just wanted to play around with the big flake on someone elses stuff first, before I do mine lol.

lol, actually i kind of did it hoping he'd possibly not like it...but he loves it. I'm surprised it  doesn't look too gaudy on the bike. I was surprised he loved it, but part of that could be that he was just happy I didn't paint everything bright pink or purple or something...I'll upload the pics of the bike together this weekend. It is a bike he got for 50 bucks that I rebuilt the carbs for him, and put a used 4-1 system on and stuff.
