can't find a song
« on: July 31, 2008, 12:55:52 PM »
hey guy's ..
i might get laughed at but this is driving me crazy...
i'm looking for a name from a song that i hear on the local rock station here every once in a while..like maybe twice a year..and every time i catch it they dont say the name of the song, emailing them didnt help, tryed that several times..
so i was wondering if it might ring a bell with any of you..here it goes..

the song is mainly instrumental, with a slower  monotone bass line, that makes ya catch yourself rock back and forward on the beat....there is a lot of almost pink floyd guitar play in it..
at the end of the song(its like 10 minutes) they start singing a bit, first low voice and increasingly louder with more force..
now the stupid thing is,i can only remember one line of the little lyric that is in it,and it goes like this:
come on...come on...come on..come on...BABY...come on ...come on...come on....
that repeats itself a few times and them they sing more, but no clue about the lyrics then..

its driving me nuts, its an awesome song and i can NOT find out who  sings/playes it..

does anybody have a clue????.....or cant ya stop laughing now..???

Maybe Ted Nugent's Stranglehold?

It's one of those songs I always keep on the iPod for when I'm blasting down the highway on the bike.  ;)

That's dangerous to your license! Nugent and VH (+JD) often resulted in police car chases for me. :-\ ;)

Here I come again now baby
like a dog in heat!

I would have to say that this song is heavily drug influenced. Wait, isnt that almost all of the 70s? ;D

Yeah, so uh, about that iPod and losing your license, I came close to it the other day on the last leg of our trip to NC and back.

We hit up the interstate for the last 40 miles of the trip cause it was starting to get dark and the 3rd guy still had another hour to ride after we got to Dickson.  Well my brother in law was crouched down over the tank on his BMW R100S to get out of the wind, ala race-bike-position, so I pulled up next to him and took the same riding position on my XS850 triple.

Van Halen's "Panama" was playing on the iPod.

We both hammered the throttle in 5th, and I was keeping up with him pretty good till about 110mph when he suddenly dropped behind me.  I looked left and in the dim twilight there was a state trooper sitting in the median at the end of the concrete barriers!

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!   :o  :o  :o

The bad part was (after I slammed on the brakes and exchanged incredulous looks with my brother in law) there was no interstate exit for the next 8 miles.  It was an excruciating 8 miles, let me tell ya.  No blue light when we finally took the first exit, though.

I can either assume that either (a) he wasn't watching our side of the interstate, since his nose was pointed towards oncoming traffic, (b) it was a dummy car without a trooper inside, or (c) I was going so fast I was just a blur and he assumed I was a UFO.

I'm not gonna go 110 on the interstate again for a long while  ;D

And I think VH on the iPod was a large contributing factor in my almost-lost-his-license story  ;D

STOP IT!! The 23 year old in me is whispering in my ear! "Panama" makes the little devil horns start to show and the Bon Scott grin appear...

My exploits took place behind the wheel of a MOPAR Muscle Car or the infamous Monte Carlo from Hell. Like Christine, that car would not die and seemed to repair it self by morning.

Oh yeah! My beloved grandmother who built M1 rifles at the Springfield Armory during the war liked David Lee Roth, "Those boys look like they're having fun..." and when I played Hot For Teacher in her Rabbit (Golf) and heard the intro she thought something had gone wrong with her car.  :D She was so cool.

Dug up two of the last interesting cars of mine during the 'Wild Bill' days. Monte Carlo form Hell and my '72 340 Duster.

*sigh*... the good ol' days. :-\

Funny how I never heard much about them growing up, just lack of exposure I guess, isn't that the Red Rocker's old band?

I didn't have any older brothers to turn me on to music, I was on my own or leeched off of my bud's brothers or uncles.

Excellent taste! I actually like SRV's version of Little Wing over Mr. Hendrixs. Thankfully I saw Stevie twice in my area.
