"NEP nylon rear sprocket"
« on: July 31, 2008, 05:12:14 PM »
There is a great article in another thread about things to improve the CB 750/

I am replacing my tires and would like to cure a rear sprocket "wobble" issue this weekend. (I have about  0.05" run out (TIR) parallel to the axle...might be axle?)

The Motorcyclist August 1981 article lists  "NEP nylon rear sprocket" which I cannot find reference to here in FAQ or on Google.  Might be a good modification to perform while I have the 750 apart.

Anyone have a experience with this modification?

I too saw that and wondered if they were still available.  Didn't find that they were, but found a report of them melting from the heat of an incorrectly lubed chain.

I'll be interested to see if these were/are used by any members here.

I bent the crap out of one of those with an 811 Yosh kit.  ;) I was doing burn outs. ::) They have been long out of production.

Now you know why you dont see them anymore..

Bent axle wont make sprocket run out.. try cleaning behind the sprocket, or shimming. Also  your cush drive may not be seating properly..
