Bridgestone S11
« on: July 31, 2008, 08:16:46 PM »
I'm looking for a rear 18" raised white letter Bridgestone S11. Do they exist? If so where?

Spitfires only come in raised black lettering or blackwall.  You have to paint the letters white yourself.

I looked far and wide for an RWL 18 Spitfire but couldn't. Then had RWL in other sizes, just not the 18. I did find a front with RWL. They're very cool looking.

Thats what I thought. I guess I'll have to invest in a tire pen cuz those S11's look like a good buy.

On my 400F, the Spitfires are doing very well on the streets of New York City, with all their goo, oil residue, barf, dead rats, trash truck juice, sand, steel plate street covers, potholes, dog poo, garbage, wavy pavement, cobblestone, autumn leaves, big smooth painted letters, subway grates, bridges, etc.

No kidding - during the winter I found a whole stick of butter wedged in between my front fender and tire. Dunno if someone put it there or if it somehow came up off the road. I really should have put it on ebay under "Sandcast: Automatic Tire Butterer" Probably could have gotten $1000 for it.

They did stop making them for some reason. I found a "new" one but it was 6 years old and sent it back for the regular blackwall. They still make the front RWL. Not really sure what is going on with that fact.

They haven't made Spitfire RWL rear tyres for quite some.  (I thought it was about 10 years ago they stopped production)

I'm not one to blindly say that a tyre is no good after 6 years, but I'd want to scrutinize the sidewall and tread valleys for any cracking on any older tyre, before laying out the cash.  If they've never been unwrapped, that 's a good sign.  Besides, you'll probably wear it out long before it deteriorates.
