Newbie Chicago

Been checking out the boards for a while....

I finally just picked up a 78 cb750 supersport for $500. The right place, right time, kind of thing.

The good:

Pretty good condition overall.

All original.

Mechanically sound.

SUPPOSEDLY only 11,000 orig. miles.

The bad:

King and Queen seat.... :'(

5 spoke rims.

Minimal surface rust.

Exhaust somehow cracked.

Needs the brakes bled.

Needs a new battery.

I can't wait to get started on the transformation.

Any information on anything would be appreciated.

Welcome! We've got a bunch of folks out your way. It sounds as if you got a good deal; the mileage is definitely low. How about some pictures when you get a chance?

A quick bit of advice, pick up a set of Speed Bleeders to bleed the brakes. They are brake bleeder fittings that have a one-way valve in them. They are inexpensive and make bleeding brakes super easy. Many folks here swear by them. There's a FAQ in the brakes FAQ about them, and we've got sizes listed by year/bike.

Cool, I appreciate it. I will have to check into those bleeders.

Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 78' CB750 handy?

Check out Old Man Honda:

You'll find schematics under "Archive Wiring Diagrams." You'll also want to take a look at the "Interactive Wiring Diagrams," which show a generalized, but interactive, model. Note that, as far as I know, wiring for the 750F is different from the K's of the same year.
