click on your inbox or sent box (w/in ebay)... there will be an "expires status" column.

if you know of a way to recover messages from before the expiration date... please let me know.

Best way is to just save them in your personal email account.  They should automatically be forwarded to whatever account you have listed with ebay, and then you can save them there for as long as you need to.
