Looking for paint scheme ideas
« on: July 29, 2008, 11:10:19 am »
I am back from a successful hunt at the Vintage Bike Days.  Among my many purchases for my '71 CB500 was a tank in near perfect condition.  It does however need to be repainted, which I had planned on doing anyway.  I am looking for something different than the usual 71-78 CB500/550 factory paint scheme.  I don't want some custom chopper skull and flame job either (although I do appreciate that look on many of the custom bikes that I have seen, it just isn't for me).  I did see some very cool schemes on some of the older British bikes at the bike show this weekend.  Would it be sacrilege to go with something other than stock?

Can you guys post some pics of your paint schemes?

If you are not restoring it to original then the paint scheme matters only to you.  Look for suggestions but the only person that has to ride it is you.  Make it what you want.

Of course you can never go wrong with Black!  I'm a big fan of it..  Every style and scheme fits the owner.. Anything you create is going to be orginal anyways, so let your imagination run wild.

The paint on my 750 is very faded, so I have been thinking of this a lot...  the one thing that I have been thinking the most about is pearl white with the red honda wing logo on each side, then clearcoat over it all.

No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

Probably black, but maybe red if it compliments the logo just right.   Maybe paint the motor black...
