Cosmopolitan Motors? Anyone know anything?
« on: August 03, 2008, 07:48:52 PM »
Is something going on with these guys? Ordered stuff a month ago and haven't heard anything.  Filed a complaint with paypal and can't seem to get ahold of anyone, the number is disconnected.  Anyone in that area or in the know of what's going on?

Mods, if this needs to go somewhere else please move it for me.  The part is for my SOHC so I figured it belongs here.  Not flaming just curious for knowledge?

I bought a couple of ebay items from them in the past(none in the last year). I had no problems with them and was pretty happy with the service.

When I bought items the listings were a bit different. There was one person claiming to be bringing Cosmo motors "kicking and screaming" into the 21st century with online sales. This person certainly seemed to know their stuff where parts were concerned and provided good info and service. Judging by the empty ebay store and disconnected phone # I would guess that this person is gone and the store is is out of business. Hope someone near Hatsboro,PA can confirm this for ya.

I hate Paypal about as much as I hate ebay. Necessary evils though, I guess. Unfortunately it seems as though you will have to go through them to get your $$ returned. Too bad about Cosmo :-[

Good Tarozzi stuff on ebay can still be had from Jim-Hinshaw, an excellent seller who cares about old bikes. You can also shop from his store at  fastfromthepast.com

Not so cheap fiberglass can be had at glass from the past( caferacingparts.com ) or airtech ( airtech-streamlining.com )

i've talked to him before on the phone and he was nice enough, but one of my shopmates, billy (billdramp), ordered a seat from a little bit ago and he never returned any emails after accepting money and not sending the product. kinda wonder if something's gone wrong- those people have advertised forever in classic cycle rags.. they can't have lasted that long if they had a history of ripping people off.

I met the guy, face-to-face, at Barber Vintage Days last October.  He had a spot in the swap meet area and he had a LOT of stuff for sale.  He seemed to be OK then.

Not specifically ebay, but we do have good folks/ bad folks which includes ebay merchants.
