Wheels Through Time Trip
« on: August 03, 2008, 12:19:25 PM »
Hey guys, here's the pics from the Wheels Through Time museum trip that we took a few weeks ago.  They have some very cool machines in that museum, and true to what they say, every bike he started up for us was a 1-2 kicker!  Amazing.

Here's the photos:

Hey Dan, pretty cool, thanks for posting. Don't have time to really check them all out cause I'm trying to get things done so I can get out of here and head back to Little Rock to be with my Dad. I'll get back to it though. ;)

My wife and I visited the museum last year.  A real treat.
Better visit or call ahead as the museum will be leaving Maggie Valley soon.  According to a interview with Dale Walksler, the owner, in the July/August Motorcycle Classics magazine 150 bikes will be auctioned off and the rest will be moved to a yet undisclosed location, but not in North Carolina.  ???

Shoot.  Wish Ida knowed- that's just down the road a piece from me.
I had to have his number blocked because Dale was calling too much.  Ernie come over- I'm lonely.  Ernie I need to talk.  Ernie what's this lever do? Blah blah blah.  I used museum passes to light the stove and write phone messages on.  Hate I missed ya ~

The Crocker was a 1-kicker too, after the primer kick.

It sounded purty  ;D

The coolest part about the museum was, we all felt like we got the royal treatment from Dale.  I guess it was because we all rode in on vintage bikes with gear strapped on the back (showing that we were actually travelling on vintage bikes).  He saw us ride in and as we were taking our helmets/jackets off after we parked, he came riding up on that Harley XA.  He pulled in next to my brother in law Cory (who was riding the BMW) and asked, "Hey is that your beemer?"  Cory responded that it was, and Dale asked, "Wanna ride this one?"

It was the one in this picture.  The XA Harley is a boxer twin (like a BMW) that was produced only during the early WW2 years.

Cory rode it up and down the entrance and behind the building and back, grinning from ear to ear.  We then went into the museum and Dale proceeded to start up a lot of the bikes for us (including the Crocker and an old flat track knuckle).  Then while we were wandering around the back end of the museum, he came up to us and asked if we wanted to see the shop.  Now THAT was one cool shop!

When we were there Dale's dad took us around.  Had my wife sit on a few of the bikes in the women on motorcycles display.  Real nice people.  Did anyone notice the burnout marks on the floor ???
No trailer queens there.
