SWINGARM LENGTH ???
« on: July 23, 2008, 10:26:24 PM »
I HAVE A 72 CB750K . I WOULD LIKE TO PUT A LONGER SWINGARM ON IT. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE LATER MODEL SWINGARMS ARE LONGER OR IF THEY WOULD FIT MY BIKE EASILY. IF NOT ANY SUGGESTIONS, JUST LOOKING FOR ABOUT 3 INCHES. THANKS, JOHN

I don't have a 750, but just hanging around this site you learn some things.  I ran across this bike on ebay a while back and the seller got tons of questions.  He's posted on this site very sparingly, amongst others.  In one of the questions asked of him someone noticed his swingarm looked different, and he did reply that it wasn't stock, but rather one from a later 750, but I don't think it was 3 inches, more like 1-2.

By my knowledge they are all the same length, maybe look for a swing from a GS1000 or build one. Made mine, awhile back, 2" longer and works.

Good luck.
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

My 72 K2 is 16.5 in. center of pivot to center of axle in full forward position. My 76F is 17.5 in.

I noticed "just 3 inches" in your post. 3 In is a lot. Just curious...why?

Late (77/78) swingarms are longer.  How much?  Don't have an exact measurement but somewhere around an inch.

i know an early cbr swingarm will fit,you will need to make 2 narrow spacers to fit in the frame and the swingarm bolt is smaller so you`ll have to work around that somehow.then you`ll need to to weld on shock mounts.the arm is about 3 inches longer than the k arm

The 77-78 CB750K swingarms are a bit wider and longer.  Make sure you get the axle and spacers too.

I don't suppose you know if that later CB750 swingarm is wider at the pivot than the CB550?

I have a Kawasaki H2 swingarm that I put in a Honda 350 frame.
It's 22 1/2 inches bolt to bolt.--stock CB750 is about 18 inches.
Hoping for better straight line stability with the longer swingarm as the machine is being prepared for the salt---or something.
