So, 750 rear end swap onto cb550
« on: August 04, 2008, 04:11:29 PM »
having an issue here.....at first glance, i thought i could just swap the rear sprockets, but the bolt patterns are much different, and the cb550 rear is 37teeth, while the 750 is 48teeth.....and at that large of a jump.....where i used to be at 75mph on the 37 tooth, the 48tooth will put me UNDER 40MPH!

so, I'm assuming im not the first to attempt this, and was wondering what others have done to remedy this situation....

I asked a similar question here a couple of days ago! I know what your thinking, great midrange, little slow off the line! Me too. Anyway, someone gave me a website,Sprocket Specialists. They have what youre looking for. There is an article also here on SOHC about hopping up the 550 and it says go up like 4 or 5 teeth. Hope this helps.

Thanks! i actually jumped on oldbikebarn.com on a wim....and found a 39 tooth sprocket for the CB750, so i ordered it for $40 shipped, which is 2 teeth more than the 37tooth stock 550 sprocket.....so im stoked...

what do you mean? bad service with them?

If all else fails I used my credit card, so I could always dispute the charge and have my money pulled back.....
