new 550 owner in Seattle Wa
« on: June 29, 2008, 02:28:43 PM »
Hi

New to the vintage bike scene, and have been looking at what I want to do with my CB550f

I have not riden a bike in over 15 years but picking it back up, I like to tinker and old cars and mechanical items have always floated my boat.

I picked up a 74 bike almost 100% stock, with the parts taken off added to the deal.  14k original miles and a super sweet ride.

(crapy phone photo attached)

anyways fixed photo

I am kinda torn between keeping it as stock as possible and messing around on another 550 or keeping all the stock parts and moding the bike as long as i can bolt the old parts back on with minimal stresses to the bike.

How'd we miss welcoming this member  ???   :D

Better late than never I guess

A big ol' welcome Matt, from a fellow Matt.

Your philosophy is the same as mine. I modded the 'spare' engine in my bike and left the original untouched. This way, in the future, I can return it to it's original state for value sakes....when, if ever I find a set of original exhaust. I'm sure I'll find a unicorn first  :D

I say if you've got a nice original then keep it that way and buy one in poor shape to mod.

 Matt.

Welome to the forum. Thats a nice looking bike. I agree with mattcb but if you don't plan in hurting the frame then you can mod it and put it all back later.
knock with no answer
