Got another bike Pic's added
« on: August 05, 2008, 07:57:01 AM »
Just got a Honda cb77 305 Superhawk off ebay. It's in Lowell,In. and I use to live there. Got to get the 750 running again so I can have room to work on the cb77 now.

        Yeah! 8) Listen, we're starting to get a few of the old Super Hawks on here, might end up needing a place on here just for us! ;)  :D
Seriously, it IS cool (like duster said) that another old Honda has been picked up and especially an old Super Hawk. ;)

Needs a lot of elbow grease, but aside from the ape hangers and the mufflers its all original I believe. It runs but the carbs need to be properly cleaned for sure.  A few pictures as I got it;

Badass bike you got there.  Does it have a title?  Oh, and I'd keep the bars... 8)

I don't have the title yet!! The dealer/bike shop that had it is looking. Like the plates say, it's been 35 years since they did anything with it. Sorry but I can't do ape hangers, but they are slotted for the wires to go thru them, but there quite rusty.

Your photos bring back a lot of happy memories, thanks and congrats. Is it still possible to find decent original parts for the cb77?

Yes parts can be found, but like the sohc4's they do get expensive. And some items are like gold!!

       I finally got to where I could look at the pictures and, it looks like one of the last year or 2 that it was made. I had a 66' CB72 250 Hawk and it was the same colors but mine had painted front fender and side covers, instead of chrome ones. I'm not positive but, I think there were some that were titled as 68's even though the 350 came out in 68'. I'd say, if all those parts are original, it's a 67' or so.

        Gotta go, have to get some things done to get ready for another Little Rock trip Tonight and should be back tomorrow afternoon or evening. ;)

Pretty neat.  I still have my fathers 1966 CB77 Superhawk.  He bought it used in 1971 and rode it to work all the time.  He also drove it 150 miles to his brothers farm.  Still runs great.  Good luck with the project.  ;D

The ape's are going, I've bid on a set of drag bars already and I'm checking on new cables now. Right now I'm just going to get it running right and hopefully just ride it for a while, then decide how much of a restore job I want to do.

          Sounds like a good approach to your Super Hawk. Sure am glad the "Ape Hangers" are going to be replaced by the drag bars (drag bars will be pretty close to the type of bars that the earlier Super Hawks came with any way. ;)

Yea the stock cb77 bars are 24" wide and the drag bars are 28" so I'll just cut them down. Don't know if I will cut slots for the wires to go thru or not tho. Just saw a stock side stand on evilbay, starting bid is $199.00 or buy it now for $499.00. Yhink I'll passon the stock kick stand. I didn't know that a side kick stand was an option on the cb77. Saw a "nos" kick stand on a Honda dealers site for $295.00.

I sure hope you own a blast cabinet.   ;D ;D

It looks like there is enough project there to keep you out of trouble for quite a while.  I'm sure you will get a lot of pleasure from making it work and look like it is supposed to.

Your right, but it's not as bad as it looks in the pictures. A lot of it is grease that seems to have been smeared all over. I washed it with some mean green and a lot cleaned up, not that theres not a lot to still clean up. It did sit in a back room for about 25 years. I'm not planning on a full restore now but I'm going to keep all the original parts and slowly get replacement stuff!!
