Topic: Frame material of CB550?

Any one know if its any special blend of steel tubing? It seems to be 18 gauge (~1mm) thick. Also, do all the bikes have the same type steel?

I plan on doing some cutting and welding and I want to buy the same type steel tubing and the appropriate wire if necessary.

If I had to guess I'd say these frames are your run-of-the-mill Mild Steel. As long as you stick with a basic mild steel, 1018/A36 Something like that you'll be absolutely fine.
