Need Butterfly valves for a cb350F
« on: August 07, 2008, 11:34:53 AM »
The PO must have taken the valves off for some reason, but what ever it may have been, it defies me.

What I'm looking for are the actual, round valves that open and close.  I have the rod-link set that opens/closes them, that goes through the mouth of the carb.  I also need the gaskets (if any) and the 2 screws per butterfly that hold them to the rod.  I can't find a part number in the fiche!!!

TIA!

You won't find it on the fiche coz it's not a service item, ie, you need to buy a whole carb to get it! I run across this all the time in my job (selling wholesale metric parts). One guy was told he could fiddle with the speed sensor on his CBR and get another 3 hp (oh come on!). He broke it. Not a service item. Cost of new throttle body? $800!

it was an Old School race trick to pull the choke butterflies and the rod out of the carbs and then use JB weld to fill in the holes from the rod.  Increases airflow a fairly significant amount and cheaper than buying a set of CR smoothbore carbs.  The downside is that you lose the choke circuit on the carbs, but that's not a huge concern on a race bike.

I have a set of butterflies and screws from a CB400F.  I think that they are the same size carbs, but I could be mistaken.
