Topic: Little paint work...guess the logo!!!

...finally got some paint work done to my chopper.  Can anybody guess what logo its from?  Must state manufacturer, model, and year.

Don't want to rain in your parade, but when I first saw your painted logo, I liked but the font sounded familiar to me. It took me just five seconds to remember where did I have seen it before.....

The top one has a classy look and title to it, the second on has the H word in it

...very close Raul, the only HD I ever owned was a 94 Sporty, and I always like the logo, so thats what I based this one off of.  I think the pic you posted is from the later model Sportsers...96-98 maybe?  Can't say I "designed" it...but it was my idea.  Worked with my paint guy over a few iterations til we got it right...hes the genius though.

If you did it on purpose then great. I would be pissed off if I tell my painter to come up with a design for me, only to discover later that he just copied it from another brand. It would be like "I would like to have a Harley but I can only copy their logo", if you catch my drift.

Now I see it under a different light... 


The paint execution is great, beside these other considerations. Is it polite to ask how much did the painter charge you for the whole process?

Wait a moment! I just re-read your post and understand you were actually asking us to guess from where was it inspired.

Actually, that pictures I attached was the closest one I could find. I knew I had seen the logo in an Sportster, but every "Sportster logo" or "sportster tank" led to custom-made paint or logos....

...yes, I totally stole the layout from the sporster.  Think I'll get a cease and desist from the HD legal department?  I have the logo on both sides of the tank, with some pin striping on the oil tank and rear fender to tie it in.  He did the work for $400 USD.  Now keep in mind, I already had the base coat on the tins...all he did was the logo and the pin striping.  I was looking at close to a grand if he would have stripped everything down to bare metal, and did the base coat + the logo.  He told me it would be a little cheaper now that hes got the stencil work done...if I wanted to do the same logo again.  He has a pretty sweet set up with his computer hooked up to vinyl cutter that cuts his stencils for him.  He applies the stencils to the work piece with a low tack vinyl then he just air brushes over that.  I think he said he did this logo in 3 layers.

$400 seem like a fair price to me. It is difficult to put a price on these kind of jobs, because no two painters will achieve the same results. I guess it all comes down to "how much money am I willing to pay and what kind of result do I want to get"

I don't think you will receive a lawsuit, not even if Willie G. Davidson himself stumbles onto you on an intersection. At the end of the day, you are not making money with it, not like that million chinese factories making copies of HD stuff...
