What's the most you've ridden in a day?
« on: August 09, 2008, 08:53:15 AM »
After reading "Badasses don't drink Latte" I got to wondering what's the farthest/most miles you've put on a bike in a day?
So far my best is Beaufort, SC back to home. The trip odometer logged 850. The bike was a Kawasaki crotch rocket.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

1069 miles.  July 1968 on a CL350 twin.  El Paso, Texas to NE Oklahoma.  20 years old.  In the Army. I would like to think I'm a little bit wiser now.  Probably not.  I did 450 a few months ago on my 500 Interceptor.

My "record" is about 600 miles on the crotch rocket, and I was ready to get off....actually I was ready to get off at about 400 miles. Most of that was I-75...Atlanta to Orlando.

Most of I-75 Atlanta to the Fla. line is concrete...with tilting slabs. What a joy to ride on!  >:( Wumph, wumph, etc.

Wow, all you guys got me beat; 250 miles is about as far as I've gone all at once.

I have done a couple 1000-mile days, one on the CBR1000F and the other on the R100GS.  There have been many 750 mile days.  But usually when touring, I like to keep the miles per day around 350.  Just grinding out the miles takes the fun out of it and you miss a lot.

If you want to see a ride that puts mine and probably everyone else's here to shame...check this site out.

http://www.worldrider.com/blog/

He's been at it for 3/4 years....50,000 miles....though the US, Central America, South America, and now Africa and the middle east on a Dakar. The pictures and descriptions he posts are breathtaking....lots of scary stuff too.  :o And he is a lone rider...no support except web fans. One "dedicated to the task" guy!
