difference in models
« on: August 09, 2008, 07:20:57 PM »
New here and unclear on a few things. (and yes I did try to search the archives and faq to no avail)

I have a CB750K3 and yesterday my nephew and I picked up a 1981 CB750 Special. So my questions are:
What are the main differences in these bikes?

The carbs appear different on the 81, are those the CV's I hear reference to?
The 81 has air adjustable forks, is this standard or optional?
The 81 has air filter pods and a 4 into 1 exhaust so I assume it has been rejetted or doesn't that type of carb require it?
(The bike is not running properly and suspect electrical problems, will check some things before seeking help on that)
Is the 81 sohc or dohc? (and is there an easy way to tell by looking at it or is it by manufacture date?)
Is there a difference between the 750 Special or is that the only 750 they made that year, ie is the Special a "trim package" choice of a broader model?
Appreciate any input. I searched a couple different forums but didn't come across the comparisons I am looking for.
Thanks.
