The wife and I will probably be there at Logans too.  I don't have a SOHC Honda anymore.  I'm working on a Yamaha XS650 now.  I'll be on the SV650 and she will be on her Ninja 250.

Won't be at Logan's after all.  Somebody else better take the camera to gather evidence. ;)  Too darn much rain and we are packing up to go home Saturday morning.  A lot of the swap meet vendors had tarps over everything so you couldn't even see what they had for sale.  Even with the rain, there is nothing bad to say about this event.  First class all the way.

Last communication,  The manager at Logan's says to get there earlier than 7:00 if possible.  Ask for Baldridge

Sure sounds like a fun outing alright! 8) That's gotta be an exciting time, to get to meet up with folks that you have only exchanged words with on line (and maybe over the phone). Maybe I can mange to get in on this next year or possibly another event later on. I can only imagine the excitement and all. Enjoy yourselves and let's see lots of pictures. I know it would be a real Hoot, to see you all and see those bikes as well. ;)

East on I-20 from Barbers, about 5 miles.

West.

I'm home.  I had a great time.  Pics to follow.  Great to meet you Ilbikes, Hcritz, Lumbee, Tony650, Irishguy and anyone else I met and maybe didn't know it while there.

Hey,

It was great meeting you guys.  I spoke with Lumbee over on the XS650Garage forum.  He said that he had a few problems, but made it home OK.  Glad to hear you guys made it.

I told him that next year you guys need to get with me a little earlier and you all can come over to the house.  I'll throw some barbeque on the grill and some beers on ice.  Let's plan on that next year.

I did pretty good...  I spent $110 and bought a very nice Sportster tank, a brand new bobber solo seat, and some new wide handlebars all for my XS650 bobber project.  And I bought a nice set of Triumph leather gloves too.  Not bad for $110.

Next year I am going to bring about $2000 and bring home another bike.  The wife is all excited about my bobber project and she wants me to build her one next.  I may build her one out of a Honda 350 or 360 twin.

What a great festival.  This event is destined to become one of the top bike events in the country, if it not already is after this year.  The thing I like about it is that it's not all Harley this and Harley that.  Sure there were some cool old Harleys there, but it was the other bikes that got all the attention.

Here's a pic of us at Logan's.  That's me on the far right.  Then going left, Tony650, Irishguy, Lumbee and I can't recall the guy's name on the far left.

Here's Lumbee with his freshly built chop.  He get's the crazy man award for riding it from Baton Rouge untested.

This was where I was set up.  There was a Ward's Riverside for sale in front most of the time.  I tried to ask everyone that commented on the SOHC4's(my 77 and my neighbor's 76) if they were members here, but let me know if you came by and I missed meeting you.

Well, just a note from the party-pooper! I didn't get any directions or phone numbers off this thing and then didn't have i-net access where we stayed. Talked to hcritz & thought we had directions down but never found Logans. We bloody well tried, but all the locals said there was no Logans east of exit 140.....sorry I didn't make it, would have liked to meet the rest of you-all.

Barber has done a spectacular job with that facility, the museum is unbelievable and the track is...well I don't have the words. I was however disappointed with the number of Honda sohc4 race bikes. It was however great to see Cook do a couple laps on the "Old Blue" replica that Mr. Barber and his museum staff surpised him with.
The VJMC boys had a good turn out too.

Did meet Greg from Ohio Cafe Racer fame and his CB500 racer pal, hcritz, and Gordon (Ilbikes)

As it turned out there were two guys I know racing at Barber that I didn't know were going, one lives five miles from me who we passed on the interstate north of Knoxville, small world. Here's a pic of my neighbour trying to "reel-in" 2nd place on his Duc 250GP single.

Maybe next year boys.

Brent

Edit: Dusty I did see your bike, but never found anyone around that looked to be attached to it.

...thats me doing my best impression of the riding position of my chopper.  It was another 12 hr ride back to Baton Rouge on Sunday...last 30 miles were the worst Hwy 190 going into East Baton Rouge parish has to be the worst in the nation!

...I agree...I saw more beamers than anything, and they seemed to be whipping every bodies butt on the track...

Yeah that East/West thing got us too.  We drove around for what seemed like forever.  I'm usually pretty good with basic directions, so that'll teach me to not take the time to get directions from the internet.  I feel a GPS in my future, so that might help.

Irishguy, that'd be great to get together at your place next year.

Bwaller, we were the rowdy crowd that closed the park down, so I was probably sleeping if you came by before noon.   ;D ;D ;D  We got to know the cops and security pretty well.  I was amazed how tame most everyone was, it was quiet by 9 or 10 pm.  I'm scared when I'm one of the "loud" people -I'm a pretty quiet guy.

I still don't know where you were, what exit, and did hcritz not make it either?

When we planned this deal I thought riding in Alabama would be on the hot side. As it turned out where we stayed was about 45 minutes to Barber and both Sat & Sunday we left about 7am in about 40 degree air, #$%* I didn't bring enough clothes!!

I told my wife the bikes that people are riding at this place are great, everything from the oddball unusual to the vintage spectacular and everything in-between.

We parked our two SOHC4's across from the VJMC set-up and could have talked to people all day who were full of praise for the "mature" Hondas.

Hcritz was with us when we left Barber, but had to head home.  Funny thing is we all ended up at the right Logan's.  Lumbee and crew were right inside and they were the first person I asked if they were members here, so we ate with them.

Lumbee recognized Irishguy and his wife's bikes as we were leaving and we found them and talked for a while in the parking lot.  I asked the hostess, but she didn't know much.  We left to go on Friday and I didn't check here after that, so I had no idea to ask for Baldridge.

Ah well, I still had a great time.  Next year will just be better.

Bwaller, it turned out to be West from the park on 20.  That's probably what got you.  What got me was the directions here said East so I headed East and I assumed 20 and 78 would only meet up at one spot, but they run close for quite a while, so it wasn't clear which part of where they ran close was where the restaurant was.

Hey I saw Lumbee's bike out front (in fact I was parked next to it  ;D)

I met up with Irishguy, JTB, techy and Cal (don't remember Cal's forum name) out front at 7pm.  We must have just missed the other group!

Yea, I knew it couldn't be to the east. Can't argue with the locals either. By the time I fiqured it out it was 6:30 and cooling down so we bailed on the Logan's deal!

bwaller, I saw your SOHC's parked across from the VJMC show...  They are absolutely beautiful!

I was surprised when I walked around them and saw that the plates showed Quebec.  Did you guys ride down?

You're right on the oddball bikes part...  That's one of the things I love about Barber's, people scoot around on little classic 80cc and 125cc's all day long!

DammitDan,

It is crazy all the wild stuff people ride around on. I saw some stuff I've never seen before. At some point Sunday there was an absolutely beautiful Norton (maybe Dominator powered) cafe parked beside us. Gorgeous.

Thanks for the kind words and no, we didn't ride down, although this is the first time I've trucked my bike anywhere. We're in the south for a while longer and it just might be too damn cold riding home the end of October!
