I was thinking it could be metal flex hose for automotive radiators (without the end pieces)...:

It appears he used automotive flex exhaust pipe wrapped around the exhaust

Actually, I believe that might be aluminum flex-hose (or whatever its called) readily found at Home Depot. I know of it because I picked up some and use it to route out exhaust of the shop, in the winter.  :D   (because I don't need to kill any more brain cells, believe me.. . )

It's also used in the VW air-cooled world, to route the air from the fan.

It might also be exhaust heat shielding from a Shadow or something. I have shielding like that on my Shadow, but it comes in different shapes for different bikes. The clamps attach to tabs on the inside of the shielding.

That's interesting to know - would make more sense as the aluminum hose stuff I mentioned would deform pretty easily, it would seem, if used in that application.

The Home Depot stuff works great to route out exhaust of the shop, though. . . . lol.

They do make steel flexible exhaust tubing believe it or not.

It could be aluminum but I can't tell from that picture. definitely not conduit, too smooth.

To me, looks identical to flexible exhaust tube.

Google-Fu for the win. . . (or at least, something darn similar ;)  )  I don't see any that come all the way back like that, though, like in the pict starting the thread - plus, it looks like some kind of overlay pipe in that pict where with this set up, its built in.

Look at the original picture..

I did, and like I said. Looks too smooth from what I'm looking at. The conduit I'm familiar with round these parts has way more of a "step" to it. Like this:

Whereas the flex exhaust has a much smoother overall appearance.

Decades ago, the Sunbeam S8 had flexible hose between the pipes and the muffler, because the weld used to break due to vibration.

One good thing about using it is that it looks cool while you hide you inability to weld bends or your lack of a tube-bending machine...  ;D

Again, that's a cool bike!!!! -the Sunbeam too...-

at that price I may try it on one pipe and see how it looks.

You sure hit the nail with the hammer on that one, thats the stuff its called dooley serrated head pipe heat shield, and from what i searched on the net about it they state that their the only ones right now that produce it, I thought I saw a OCC episode a week or so ago that the bike they built had them slipped on over the header, I could be wrong but I think thats what I saw..... I would like to get some of that stuff for my sled. ;D

I wonder what the best size would be to slip over my cb650 4 into one header.
