cb650c Spark pugs... wtf is with #2 & #3
« on: August 12, 2008, 08:44:57 am »
After dumping my bike and haveing to wait for replacement parts, i decided to take off the carbs to clean them as well as install the set of iridium plugs i've had for a month.  I got #1 and #4 done no prob, how the hell are you supposed to get #2 and #3 changed?   You can't fit a deep socket in the space and you can fit a shallow socket in but of course, it's to shallow to be useful.  does ANYONE have and tips on how to get around this stupid design flaw???????

Use the the spark plug removal tool that comes in the OEM tool kit.  Or in your case, locate, buy and use the previously mentioned tool . . .You might find a suitable spark plug tool at Sears etc but the stock tool really works the best.

I got mine from the honda dealer. I think it was about 10 or 15 bucks, but I couldn't find any other way. Not to mention it works great

Buy an 18mm spark plug socket or an 18mm socket and fire that grinder up.

Removing the tack drive sure make getting to the # 3 plug much easier.

To install the plugs slide a length of fuel line into the top of the plug it helps avoid cross threading, i have a 650 and ran into the same problem i used the tool kit for removal.
