hi all,hope you dont mind me asking for help in identifying a 1978 cb750f ohc i have just got,and need help in identifying it before i get the wrong parts,the frame no is cb750f-1038116,
engine no is cb750E-2560607  i have been told its an F1 and even on on some old reciepts its an F1 but on others its down as a k7.i would be most grateful for any help that you could give.

I'm not a 750 man but I thought that the F-models had engines that started CB750FE-xxxx

You could try PM-ing Bryan Jones (bryanj) as he might be able to help with the numbers.

From the numbers, that should be a K6 engine.  See http://www.satanicmechanic.de/enginemods.shtml for engine numbers and modifications.

1975 cb750f0 with a 1976 cb750k6 engine IF its a US bike
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

thanks all,as you can tell i am a newbie to the cb750 at least now i have some idea which mongrel i have,i am going to get in touch with the dvla and see if they can put any more light on it,i dont know if it is or was a US bike as i am totally in the dark with it.

It sounds like you are in the UK. If so give me a ring on 07795162623 any evening Sunday to Thursday and I will advise you on reg with unhelpful DVLA.

It seems that in the UK the F0 frame number often left the factory with F1 engine numbers. I've seen several now.
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

hey mark,thanks,if i wernt confused earlier i am now,an old chap at work(bit older than me)says mines an f1,but with so many look a likes its hard to pin point which one i do have.after brians reply the other day i looked at wat he says mine is,and guess what,its like every one ever made,lol.even a kwak headlight.think i will be doing better than you mick from the look of it i can put anything on mine.
