I'm kind of afraid to turn it upside down, I don't want to risk it leaking because I *just* did the paint and as it's old-style acrylic lacquer, it's 'gas resistant' but not gas-proof, know what I mean?  I'm thinking I'll syphon what I can and put it in a container to see if anything settles out...

Believe me, if pouring gas out the top causes your tank to leak you have way bigger problems!

If you use a funnel you can avoid getting any gas on the tank. And it's the fastest easiest way to get all the fuel out. Have fun suckin on that tube
