Taillight modulator

I'm thinking of getting a taillight modulator for my 1979 cb650 from J&P Cycles.
Anyone have experience with these, good or bad?

Where do you live? Have you checked to see if this is legal in your state?

Who cares if it is legal  ;D
BigDog Motorcycles outta Kansas used those in all their bikes untill 2004 when one state made it illegal.
Research showed that the modulator made a motorcycle 40% more visable to a person behind the wheel of a car/truck/etc.
I would say go for it. It is your but on that bike , you need all the help you can get in a sea of Suburbans and Excursions....

I had it on my last three bikes , and allready have one sitting in my tool box for the cb project.

I agree it helps with the visibility, but the tickets and citations can get pretty expensive after a while.

I live in Texas, they're legal.

BTW:  Just finished the MSF class.  We found out that headlight modulators are legal nationally but it's recommended that we carry a copy of the federal law and politely show the cop if we're pulled over.

Thanks for the tip, verified the head light modulator IS legal in Michigan after all, and as you say, probably nationally.

I use my taillight modulator only for the brakelight -- in California it is illegal to have them blink all the time.

In fact, it blinks 5 - 7 times (depending on voltage) and then goes solid.

Visibility from the rear is not as much a problem as from the front -- unless you are braking.  Put it on the brake light only.
