One thing I am really glad that the PO did was keep all the stock parts he pulled off. He basicly turned the bike into a poor mans Goldwing
. It took me less than four hours to pull off the fairing and take all the boxes off.. Mostly because the connections in the headlight bucket were unmolested and in some cases marked with the OG wire code.
My thought is to modify mildly- I just bought a stock seat, but am looking at modifying the turn signals and adding a little chrome (my uncle built choppers in the 70s- the chrome love took hold early). but I will keep the stock stuff on hand.
The one thing the PO did was add air shocks (see below) that I might remove for coils and springs at some point later- once all the mechanicals are 100%
