backwards trike?
« on: August 15, 2008, 06:46:31 PM »
Saw a weird looking bike today.  Body looked like a sport bike, but it had two wheels in the front and only one on the back like a backwards trike.  Anyone else seen one of these?  Are the common?  This is the first one I've seen.  Wish I had time to snap a photo, but I was sitting at a red light and it drove past right in front of me.

There was someone in the other day interested in making a 1098 trike because of a leg injury.  I suggested 2 wheels up front.  I haven't heard any more about it, but the idea made everyone smile where the trike idea made everyone cringe.  I hope he does it rather than the trike.

Hi Bryanj
There have been three wheelers of two front and one rear in England since at least 1909. Think Morgan!

I've built a couple of these over the last 25 years.
2 up front --the only way to go (over).
--If you can get going quick enough, 3 always wants to go to 2 !

Saw one today going the opposite way on the parkway. Looked like a bike till I saw the extra wheel in the front.

I saw one on tv today called 'T-Rex' . It has the 2 wheels in front and one in the back, and a 1200cc engine.

That can not be considered a motorcycle can it??

It is titled as a motorcycle.  Same with ALL three wheeled machines.  Thats the beauty of it... My dad has been designing one for a few years now... Obviously, tons of loop-holes to jump thru, but it can be done no problemo.

Also considering they run a ninja as the platform...

The Piaggo MP3 is awesome because it actually leans into corners...the can-am does not but is fun in a different way. I was thinking of making a 3 wheeled contraption with a spare ducati 996 motor and frame I have...but I have too many other projects going on lol.
