Is this GS500 worth the effort?
« on: September 08, 2005, 01:28:17 PM »
Hey guys, a friend of mine who works, lives, and goes to school on totally oposite sides of Nashville is thinking about buying a bike.  Since he has never ridden before, I suggested a GS500 as a good starter bike.  He has found one he likes and I wanted to get your opinions on the bike.  Here is the specks and the discription the guy left for the bike.  What do you think?

Do you have the modern CB500s over there.  The twin was recently discontinued and replaced by the CBF500 Four.

If I needed a high mileage winter/commuter I'd go for one of them.

It outscored the Suzi in all departments in most magazine tests.

And comes in at 68bhp - you can't call that low on power!

Thats the perfect bike at a perfect price for a beginner.  He'll have tons of fun because he wont be fighting the bike.  I'd tell him to buy it.

I would have to agree. As a lighter bike it is easier to handle and will be more nimble. I love my 750 but find it just a little intimidating as far as weight goes. I'd say that is a good deal. And with the minimal miles it has just been warmed up.
