The New , World Bike Builder Champion is.....
« on: August 10, 2008, 09:44:10 PM »
Roger Goldammer, from Kelowna B.C.

Who Hoo.. third time is the charm...

The Championship was in Sturgis and is judged by all the builders, not the public..

The bike is his 1000cc single Harley, the one he ran at Bonneville last year. He said at the time he would not enter last year as his goal was not to build a bike to enter & then run at the track.. rather he wanted it to perform at the track proving itself then enter in the contest.

This bike set a new record at 155mph., but was still accellerating through the traps. After the start the bike dropped down a few gears, he slowed to about 30 mph, almost aborted the run, then went for it without the proper distance before the mph clocks... should see at least 1600, will find out next month..

Whats scary is that thing has a wiring harnes in place for lighting to be added later. I recently read an article in a magazine about that machine..i believe it was in Cycle world that i seen it.

I am pretty sure it has full lighting..

usually he manages to hide the taillight and blinkers in the edge of the fender, which is about1/4 inch thick.. you sometimes dont see them till they light up..

Great shots of it in Cycle World a few months back.. it will be in a lot more mags soon.

In the CW article, it was bare metal, he did the lighting before painting it.

The rear lights, tail & signal are there in the first pic, he said they are surprisingly bright at night, yet hard to see whe not lit.

Nortorius and 39, both have disc brakes in the hubs. 39 runs a fork of his own design, shock is in the neck.  I asked him what the fork felt like at speed..155 or +, he said really good, pretty cool to design and build and have it work real well..Same fork was used on Trouble..

je-sus... put 100" rear wheels on my trooper and top speed will be insane too!   :o ;D

754... what do you mean by the 1600 comment?

great looking bikes but i'm not sure about the builder voting system?  if honda, yamaha, kawi and suzi all voted it would seem pretty biased to me.  why can't we decide what we want them to build or whether we like what they build?  not arguing, just trying to understand the thought process toward the voting process.

Heffay, I meant 160..

Entrants for the show are either invited or picked from photos builders send in.... so mainly the top (known) custom buiders that are mainstream..who then vote for who they think should win..
