Hey all..

I am pondering the idea of picking up this fairing...

But I am un-sure how it will look on my recent 550 cafe project.  What pics do you all have stowed away with bikes sporting similar fairings?  Doesnt have to be a 550.. or a honda persay, but something similar.

Thanks much!

EDIT:: I've renamed the thread to include ALL fairings.  Could you also include the brand and where you got it from as well.  Thanks so much!

Might be a silly question... But do they still make FULL fairings for these 550's?  And where would I be able to find one?  That would be ideal, but if its going to cost me a fortune, thats no-good.

Thanks much for that picture, exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks to the both of you aswell.  I am going to change the title to include bikes with ANY fairings in this thread.  Maybe if it gets big enough, more people can refer to it as I am for some ideas on fairings.  Also if you could, would you list who makes the fairing as well?  Thanks guys

A Grove, here is a good example of a "full fairing and bags" on a 750.  Vetter windjammer was very popular in the 70's and early 80's.  Long out of production but available fairly cheaply used.

Here's my CB750 race bike with a half fairing.  Have a similar fairing on my CB400F race bike, but it's not back in one piece yet since my tear down and rebuild.

The Rickman fairing is one of my favourites.  I managed to pick up a half fairing off of a forum member, which will go on my 750F cafe project.

Here is an example of the Rickman 3/4 fairing:

This is the fairing I have (not my bike though)  Rickman 1/2 fairing

hymodyne (SOHC4 member) made this awesome full fairing by matching up a vintage top to hand laid fiberglass and modern lowers.  Lots of skilled work there, but this is a great example of a full fairing on a 550

The Dunstall is another look you can go for

Here's a couple 1/2 fairings on a Norton

Airtech Streamlining has a whole vintage section on reproduction fairings ---> http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/vintagefairings.htm  Match that up with a Glass from the Past windscreen ----> http://www.caferacingparts.com/ and a little paint, and you'll be good to go.

Well.. By the looks of things, I'll probly be saving my 275 quid for a rickman 3/4 fairing.  Those things are SO sweet!! But feel free to keep the pictures coming!  If I find a cheaper alternative I'd be incredibly pleased ;)

 ;)

Silly question, but do they supply the necessary hardware to mount the fairing, or is it the job of the consumer to hack that together himself?  (I use the term "hack" very loosely here)

I recently put on a Tracy Streetfighter because it matches the angular lines of the tank better.

That's tits right there-where'd you pick that up? You keeping the rest of it stock?

I don't believe that they come with any mounting hardware or windscreens.

Keep your eyes peeled on ebay, even set up a custom search agent for yourself.   They come up every 6 months or so.   It took me over a year to score the half fairing I was looking for, but well worth the wait as it came off a honda and had all the mounting hardware and even had signals.

Here's a pic of my 750 K2 when I got it. It still had the fairing it came with. I thought it looked sh!t on a 750 so I sold it on evilbay for £10.

I wish I could remember. Hated it that much I never bothered looking. Funny thing is, the guy that bought it didn't come to pick it up for about 3 months and I was just about to chuck it in the amenity tip when he called again! Got some more pics of it that I used to advertise it on evil bay if you want.

It came with specially made mounting frame and clamps etc.

I do not like what I have and will be changing it soon. I know you get what you pay for - this was $59 and it works and looks like a $59 fairing - My advice is not to get this type. Even with custom-made brackets, it's poor fitting and rattles like crazy at anything over 60.

I'll be going for one more in-step with the bike's lines - something like those shown above.

Gordon

That's like mine, but I put 2 small struts from the bars to the back of the fairing by the shield and it's very secure up to 105 plus mph. But yes it's not the best fit around the headlight and the holes were all off just a bit. Had to open them up and go with slightly bigger button head screws and flat washers. That made a big dofference on mine. But then I only paid $39.00 for mine so I didn't expect a perfect fit.
