I've allways liked gardening Tim but it's only in the last three years that I have been able to do what I wanted with it.
The raised lawn and pond was done three years ago. The section behind it, the pergola was done two years back and the section you can't see behind that is a sen garden that was done last year.
All in all It's cost me over $4,000 and I still have the greenhouse to buy.
Ponds can be quite adictive. When I told someone in the pub that I had built one, we ended up with about seven of us talking about ponds and shareing plants and fish.
My brother built one just after me and within a few monthe had built another twice the size, I think he would turn his whole garden into a pond if his wife would let him ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah I'm considering a much bigger one for the back.

But I have some fencing and deck construction to do first.

I really enjoy the water. Something relaxing about it.

I'm partial to fountains and have one. Along with a spitting frog I made outa a ceramic Piece I picked up somewhere.

Did you do anything special to get those plants going well?

I'm thinking a planter for the water might help me out since I have flow and a gravel base/bottom.

Tim, the pond is only a foot deep and has a butile liner, it holds about 250 gallons of water.
All the plants are in pots apart from the Canadian pond weed and the spider plants that can be seen in the foreground.
The rushes at the back of the pond are in a long planter with 6 house bricks to add weight so they don't blow over in high winds.
There is a small pump towards the front that draws water up to a UV filter box hidden behind the rushes at the back. the fillter box returns the water between the two rushes.
It did take it a couple of years before it started to look natural. It more or less looks after itself now apart from cleaning the fillter every now and then and thining out the pond weed.
