It's a Boy!
« on: August 20, 2008, 06:13:49 PM »
I'm at the hospital tonight with my wife and newborn.  He's our second, and was much easier than the first.

I got the call at work and tore home on the K6, grabbed the car and picked my wife up at the midwives place.  She rode with us to the hospital, and I thought we were going to give birth there in the car!

We made it though and all is well now.

His name is Ian Carroll Duffy.

I can't wait to teach him and his older brother how to ride.

Congrats Ben!   I expect when you said  "He's our second, and was much easier than the first" you were talking about the part your wife did. ;D

Congrats.  My wife just took 15 minutes off the labor between the first and second.  And I'll second Rocking's comment.  The teenage years are SO MUCH FUN!!!

Congrats!

You are officially a real parent now.  Bill Cosby said it best, your not a real parent until you have more then one child.  With one child you know who broke the window, took the cookies, or shaved the cat.  With two or more, it's anyone's guess.  :-\

Welcome to my world.  My boys (4 and 7) are always getting into something, hurting themselves or each other (went to the ER 3 weeks ago because the 4 year old stabbed himself in the face with a pair of scissors, talk about scary as hell!), and they will always tell you the other one started it.   :D  On the flip side, seeing them watch out for each other, teach each other, and become a united front against us parents can bring a tear to my eyes.  All the hard work and fantasies of ringing their little necks will pay off in the end.

Here is an old one, but this will be you soon enough.     8)

BTW, the shaved spot on the little ones hair was done by his big brother.  Aint kids great! LOL

It was horrible!  My wife was in the bathroom getting ready for work and it was my day to sleep in an extra half hour.  I woke up to him screaming and when I ran into the kitchen all I saw was his face down and blood everywhere!  My oldest said he fell and landed face first on the scissors.  At first I thought he got himself in the eye, but he was lucky and missed by a half an inch.  Actually it was less then a shot glass of blood on him and the floor, but in the heat of the moment it look like the elevator scene from The Shining.  When a person bleeds from the head the blood comes fast and it is deep red.  He only needed one stitch, but because I am the one that had to hold him down he wouldn't talk to me for the rest of the day.  In fact his exact words were, "Get away from me!  Don't touch me!  Ahhhhhhhhhh!"  LOL  You'd think it was ME that stabbed him with the scissors by the way he was reacting.  :D

Once I think I have been as scared as I possible can be, there are my boys to expose me to what scared really is.  Ahhhh, just another day being dad.   8)

Sorry, I'll stop thread jacking.  Again, congrats!  Kids are the best!

Hey Ben, Congratulations to you and the wife on the new addition. I'd probably have seen this sooner and responded quicker, only I just got back from a trip down to see my Dad. Next thing ya know, they'll be into "The Motorcycle Thing". :D
