K1 suspension
« on: September 09, 2005, 08:39:10 AM »

Since I just got this bike I'm trying to get used to the weight and the handling - I'm not sure what to expect from the suspension performance - i.e. the rear shocks and front forks...

How can I know when it is time to tear these apart? My lighter 350 seemed to be an easier ride - so I'm left wondering if it's just the weight of the 750 that I'm feeling or what...

Any experienced advice will help - this is my first big bike.

Thanks,
johnny...

Everyone generally agrees that the stock rear shocks on the ol' 750 are poor.

They are not rebuildable.

Check the FAQ section for aftermarket rears.

I've gone through most of the discussions in the FAQ's...I guess what I am getting around to is that I'm not sure how to even tell if the things are bad or if it's just the way the heavier bike feels...

I traded bikes a couple of weeks ago with a buddy (350's) and almost went over the bars when I hit the brakes...I had not realized how bad mine had gotten - I simply don't have enough experience to gague this type of thing yet...(i.e. the suspension)

I have already been looking at several different brands and have them bookmarked for use as soon as I get some more cash.  Maybe I should just take for granted that I need to replace the rear shocks with new ones - that's what you're saying, huh?...

For better handling yes.

Take a look at you swing arm too. Loose or worn bushings really don't help.

They really make the back end feel unstuck or unsettled.
