350-4 gas leaking from #2 carb
« on: August 21, 2008, 08:45:33 AM »
Hello,

I'm a noob to the little Honda's but not to bikes.  I have a Suzuki GS425 and a GS850G along with the '74 Cb350F.

I purchased the 350 four from a neighbor that had it sitting in the garage for a number of years.  The bike is in super condition and hasn't been abused or messed with mechanically.

I have got it running and idles very nicely.  It revs well and no smoke.  I have noticed however that the #2 carb is leaking fuel all over the place when the bike is idling and the petcock is on full.

I have also had problems with fuel coming out of the hoses that come from the bottom of the carbs.

Any help would be appreciated!

Jim

I would say the float valve is stuck open either from being gunked up, or the float being set wrong. Or the gasket around the bowl is garbage. Is it puking out gas or just dripping? Did you rebuild the carbs?

The gas is coming out pretty fast.  I didn't rebuild them but they were spotless when i put the rack on.  I checked the float for damage and everything moved as it should.  I did not check the height of the float.

Thanks

Maybe check for a hairline crack in the float bowl standpipe?
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
