I have the above bike.  Is 1974 the first year the 550 4 was made?

Thanks for the info. 

I'm wanting to check the Vin number to see when it was produced and where.  I went to both sites, but couldn't find anything on my particular number.  Any suggestions?

You could PM the numbers to Bryan Jones.
He keeps a fairly comprehensive list.
