It is getting down in the lower 20's tonight, it is really the first cold night of the season so far. Today I cleaned the gutters one final time, rode the leaves in the yard into oblivion with the riding mower, shut the foundation vents, put all of the hoses up and installed the winter guards on the outside spigots. I still have to rig the heat tape on the sump pump hose and refill all of the propane tanks for the garage heater, but it crossed my mind today, I don't mind winter as bad as I used too. As I have gotten older the summer heat kicks my butt more and more, the humidity here in Virginia can be downright brutal. I spent a number of years in a large cinderblock electrical supply warehouse with no heat or a/c and always swore I could take the heat over the cold any day, funny how a comfortable recliner, warm blanket, fat yellow cat, and fire in the fire in the fireplace can change your mind. I am sure advancing age contributes to the change in attitude also. You know what, let the cold come and the snow fall, I don't have a darn place to go, and the coffee pot is always ready for action. Have a great winter all.........
