We are finally all moved into our new house, and now I'm setting up my workshop.

I got married just over a year ago.  Before that I had a house with a little 10X6 workshop.  There I did my first builds/restores (3 xs650s and 1 CB650).  Then I moved in my wife's little larger house, but with only a 1 car garage that had little room to work.  Last winter I rebuilt an engine in the corner of the laundry room.  Late summer we finally closed on our dream house.  A log home on 10 acres.  My favorite part was an additional 3 1/2 car garage.  1 1/2 stalls walled off with heat and AC, the other two for storage.

The previous owner used it as an office for a home business.

The counter was not very sturdy, was too high to be a good work bench, and was built with a 4 inch gap behind it.   No Good.  The first project was to build a dog run on the back of the garden shed.

The boxes are unpacked, pictures hung, and the Red Rocket (xs650 bobber) has a new home.

Now I can get my workshop sorted out.  I disassembled the old counters/bench and reused a lot of the material to start building a proper work bench.

First bench almost done, ahh that's a much better work area.

Bench #2

My son came out and I told him he could use the scrap to build whatever.  He built a bird house and a chair.

I put doors under the first work bench so my tools could be stored without getting crap all over them.  Plus I had the wood.

Now, starting on some overhead shelves.

My wife stopped in to check out my progress and snapped a shot of me working on the shelves.

And now some over bench lighting

I'm keeping the desk in there so I have a nice place to sit and do electrical work.

I have a huge tack board to hang, so I can have a collection of inspiration pictures.

A workshop wouldn't be complete without a mini-fidge full of beer.

Now I just need to bolt in my vice and bench grinders and I'll be ready to start building again.  I want to do some rewiring on the Red Rocket, a chopper to finish and I have a CB750 to restore.

Future plans include a much bigger air compressor and wire 220 for a welder.

Shop is nice! What did you use for a work surface? That black material...

Thanks,
It's just plywood.  Two layers of 3/4 inch.  It's the same top as the old counters/work bench that the previous owner painted black.  I'm thinking I want to put a layer of 1/4 inch hard board on it.  That paint will probably melt from oil and gas.

I can't thank my wife enough.  We looked at over 20 houses before we found this one.  For her, me having a proper workshop was just as important as her having enough closet space for her shoes.  She knows I maintain my sanity by turning wrenches while she does yoga.

log cabin, 10 acres, and the list just kept going!

I'd say it's more of a storage area than a garage. Managed to clear out that front row of boxes, but it's still really cramped.

Ok, now that I've got it somewhat orginized, I can post a few pics.

After going from a 2 car garage in Perris, CA to a 2 car garage in Las Vegas with the trailer IN the garage, I've gone to a one car garage in Marshfield, MO.  The back yard is big, so the trailer is back there.

So here's my work bench, well half of it.

Here's the clothes dryer with the propane tanks that supply it.

This garage is tall, so I make room by going up.

Now I think I can get at least one of the CBs in here with the Sportster.  Maybe both the CB650 and CB350.

My friend builds HotDog carts for a business and didn't come close to filling up his shop.
So when he asked me if I would like to rent the back third of the shop to help him with the rent, I jumped at it.
It has worked out excellent for both of us.

Have you got any more pics of your Goldwing Trike Pete? I just bought a GL1200 Interstate and I'm thinking, maybe.......... ? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

This is the Topic  from the Steve Saunders Goldwing board where I posted almost the complete build of the trike while I was building it.

http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldwing-technical-forum/385064-85-gl1200-aspencade-home-built-trike-conversion-project.html

The wife wanted to ride her own Goldwing but is to short to hold one up so I built it for her to drive.
It was a fun build, not finished yet, I still need to build a body for the back.
Having the shop may it really nice.

Let me know it you have any questions.

Hey thanks Peter, building a trike is a lot easier than I thought it'd be! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I could take a picture of my bike working area, but I am sure everyone knows what a snow drift looks like. Having to wait until spring and have wrenching weather cut into riding season is painful.
