My latest addition....

In the 2 car garage near the house there's a work bench that never really got used, except to take up space and to bang the car door into.

So I took that apart to use to make a motorcycle work bench.

I have about $15 into this bench project..  Some extra 2X4s and hooks for tie downs.
Strong legs, three 2X4's thick.

Frame done.

Top on there.

Middle slides out for changing oil and easy access to the engine underside.

Ramp fits inside it.

Painted it.

I did reinforcing that ramp, plus added some metal plate for the transitions (from floor to ramp, and ramp to bench)

The stand is about 26 inches high, 3 feet wide.

I have a solid wood door on a channel iron frame and heavy duty casters. spaced up with 4x6's it's one 4x6 too low but I have more. I put a square tube riser on to tie the front wheel to and eye bolts to tie down to. I'll get a pic tomorrow. Best part, I had everything here already.

Bump.

This is my friend's shop where I tinker. 40x60 metal with a 20x60 car port off one side.  Filled up with sh8  ove the 16 years it has been in existance,  so we recenly acquired some box store type shelves  we just put up a few days ago.  We're getting stuff off the floor and opening up some space for more bikes.

Oh yeah, we've got lathes to get rid of.  One is a little tiny Atlas  table top lathe, it needs to be set up. Not sure of what he wants for it, but the bigger South Bend Lathe would be a better deal if you had room and could get it where you want it.  We might deliver it between OKC, Memphis or  Barber if it was paid for.

How many bikes can you name? (there is one sohc4 there somewhere, at least identifyable parts, I think).

I'm not really sure how or if this photobucket posts right.

No purpose built shed, just a bit under the house.  I have just enough room for my bikes and my bike lifter, but i kick my toes alot around the lifter. I need to tidy it up.

Nice shop Ken !

However a troubling trend that I see is the presence of washing machines / dryers in our shops. Possibly pressure from the other half. I urge resistance to such pressures. The space liberated could be dedicated to a large keg of beer or even a small vat of wine. And much less dust.

G'Day Kev, it's a bit of a trade off having the washing machine in there but it comes in handy because im the house bloke (wifey has a good job) so i can do the washing , play motorbike mechanic, drink beer all at the same time.  It's a tuff life but someone has to do it.

New house, new shop!  I'm planning on this being the last one, because I sure as hell don't want to move ever again.  Don't worry.  There is a beer fridge, but it's in the laundry room, and that's a tv on the desk hooked up to a PS2 for when I'm just pretending to get some work done.

Wow! Your shop is bigger than my house!

I won't show the wife this or she'll think its ok to park her broomstick in my garage too. It's for my daily riders, not hers ;D

Having an actual shop would be nice. My "shop" is between the furnace and water meter. However, if the job requires more room I'm reduced to the driveway regardless of the season.

Hi Wowbagger,
Modest perhaps, but it's what you make of the space that counts. I have so much rubbish stored in my shop that I have about the same amount of effective space as you. There is a major clearout scheduled for next month.

Here's my half of the basement, and the garage where I do my wrenching. Garage/house were built in the late 40's. I'm insulating the garage before winter sets in... The baby's playpen is hiding my jacks/stands and socket set. :P
