I started making some chips on the CNC mill today. Frank did the same set of operations on a manual mill, but the CNC makes it faster and easier, once it's set up. There are 5 tools: a .328" end mill to cut the pockets for the screw heads, a center drill to spot the holes, a .205" drill for clearance, a .150" drill for the tap, and a slitting saw.

Easier than making frame kits!

I must brew some again soon David, I made a couple of crap batches in a row and gave up for awhile but my new co-worker explained that my brewing tank has some sort of bacteria that ruined both batches, so I'm gonna throw that tank out, buy another one and start again. I also made some magnificent batches and so as the weather warms up I'll start thinking about a small 30 litre batch just to dip my toe back into the water. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Also Terry. A tip I was given to by a few blokes who make about 6000 tallies of beer a year.
the plack plastic tap that screws into the tank. Put it in a vice and pull the handle piece out with pair of pliars and clean the insides out.
Then just put it back together.

I had thought about brewing my own beer, but it sounded like way too much work to me, especially since my favorite beer only costs $18.99 for a 30 pack. ;D ;D

Thanks Ken, I'll just buy a new tap, but I understand what you're saying. ;D

Those old drunks reckon the tap needs a clean every 2 or 3 brews.

Yeah I was using a sanitizer before and after each batch, including running it through the tap, but it didn't seem to make much difference? I'll buy a new tank and start again, and hopefully this time it'll be all good. ;D

I finished up the operations with the clamps mounted horizontally in the vise today! :D Next step is to clamp them on a vertical post to mill the outer profile, after cleaning up the chips for the third or forth time. ;)

Good work Scott, they look great. This is my "Winter workshop" in the patio where I'm allowed to work on my bikes in the winter months when we're not using the barbecue. In a couple of months time I'll have to move all my crap out of it and hand it back to the wife. ;D

When I got my set of frame clamps, I marveled at the offset machining and wondered at how it was done without exotic cnc tools.

A couple pics I stumbled across. The Coke signs have never been hung outside, there are two stacked. 1950's If I remember right. The dragster body is off of our car from when I went to a two piece fiberglass body.

Looks great Don, I love that mezzanine floor, it's what I need. You seem too have a lot of those horrible windjammer fairings though, are you hoping that one day they'll become collectable? ;D

Starting to clean the shop up. Gotta get in clean to get back on the CB. Got the TIG set up and hung 2 old car pics and my menu sign.

Really need to get around to the HR mech cart project. That's good space I'm wasting in there. As well as build a shelf we're my wall mounted night stand fell right about the cart.

Maybe get back around to adding some shelves above the van cabinet that holds my Milwaukee stuff.
So much to do. So little time and space to do it.

Good job mate, and my experience with workshops is that the bigger they are, the more crap you drag home to fill them, When we bought this place it didn't have a garage or side driveway, so I had a 20' x 30' 3 bay garage built. I remember sitting in one corner of this vast (to me) barn and wondering how I'd ever fill it, and now I can't get in there unless I'm prepared to climb over bikes, parts, and machinery. My next priority is to sell off as much as I can so I can actually use it as a workshop in my retirement. ;D
