My garage has been converted into a green house!   That major cold front hit Central Texas yesterday and had to move my wife's plants inside.
It's currently 16F outside and 48F inside the attached garage....

I was wondering if we would get your yearly plant lugging report Steve. Knew it was just a matter of time !

Yes, there is one window but the curtain is currently closed.  Next week, once it's back to "normal" and in the 60's, I'll have the big door open so they can get some warm direct sunlight.

Stev-o, how's your 73' Yam. RD350 doing ?

Yes, highs of 60's is "normal" for Cen Tex in Jan.  But forecast has 70's listed for this weekend but I'll be out of town

The RD was pulled out of service a couple years ago, needs a clutch. And more now, I'm sure!  I had a buddy who really wanted to buy it but I decided not to sell. Hope to get to it this Spring...

Yesterday I brought my little ultra sonic cleaner up to the house, to give it a really good scrub (it needed refilling with fresh juice and was getting gross). Polished it up and sat it by the back door.

My wife was making a quilted cover my daughter asked about, for some kitchen appliance. Before I knew it, I got one too! Apparently it’s not done yet, “needs a handle”. Wow.... Winter boredom.

John you definitely have a keeper.

In the past couple of weeks I've been doing more reorganizing in my shop,  rehung a pair of cabinets, built a shelf underneath the cabinets to put bins on above the spare motor that was given to me a couple months ago.
And the pellet stove has been keeping the shop toasty warm using a bag and a half a day.

Stu.... I like that stove! I use an electric water tank to heat the slab. The pump is on a timer so it only circulates water from midnight to 5am. We get reduced hydro rates off peak hours, but I suspect it still costs me dearly.

Nice space. I like the upright cabinets. All my paints, thinners, solvents, glues, etc are on open shelves. I often think an enclosed cabinet would be a lot safer.

So what gas is cheaper than pellets?

AB is quite cold in winter so I would imagine the amount of pellets would have been sizeable for keeping a nice shop comfortable. You like your CX500 turbo? They are unusual bikes. Nice space with plenty of working room.

Storing spray cans upside down keeps them longer as the propellant won't leak out of most that way. Using plastic wrap on top between the lid and paint and storing pain cans upside down will have any air harden the skin on the bottom of the paint with the pain remaining near the top so you get more life out of the paint too...
Fwiw.

You can make CO2 to put in a paint can mixing baking soda and vinegar and pouring the heavier than air CO2 into a can to displace the oxygen that would cure a lot of paints too.  Just make a few batches for larger cans. The CO2 being heavier than air stays on the bowl or can...

I haven't been able to get into my shop in years, so I do most of my work in the patio now. My 94 year old mum gave me some money for Christmas, so I added some more and bought a new Vevor AC/DC TIG and a welding table and welder trolley. I only unpacked it last week and haven't fired it up yet, I need to buy some tungsten rods for it, and then teach myself how to use it. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I like the cabinets because it hides all the junk
if one has a lot of that around
hard to keep up to keeping thing tidy
My plan for this summer .Is building a extra garden shed to store all the flammable just to be on the safe side of things
i also have a attached garage to the House withe a 4 post hoist .Where I store 5 bikes on top of it,That helps with the space in the big garage

Natural Gas here in Alberta is cheap My contract per GAJ gas is $3.65 per GAJ
And a cold Winter month heating house and garage cost me 32-35 GAJ Gas
Nice and warm and of cause all the taxes on top
For the Wood Pellets back in the day .It was cheap had a good source for the pellets and price was less the @ $2.00 per bag
My stove held 7 bags in the hopper and would last max 3 days when the weather was cold
make's a garage smell nice. sure miss it and the thinker when the pellets drop in the burner

It's a 1976 Yanmar YM1300D 4x4 2 cylinder diesel with a reversible 13hp 3sp PTO. It came with a Yanmar tiller that bolts directly to the back of the transmission and is operated by the 3pt hitch. I've had it since 2000 and it still surprises me with what it can do. I got it from Japan, it used to work a small rice farm before I got it. I'm the second owner.

Here’s how I heat my shop. Just outside this wall, I poured a small pad for my upright compressor and a 40 gallon, electric hot water tank. The tank (and expansion tank) has an extra insulation kit, plus is over wrapped with an old sleeping bag. The circulating pump runs liquid/anti freeze mix (designed for this application) through three loops in the concrete floor. A thermostat in the middle of the shop, calls for the circulating pump to come on, whenever temp is below 50 degrees F. But, clock/ timer only allows the pump to actually run between midnight and 6:00 am, when we are off peak, at the lowest of three daily hydro charge rates. I figure it adds about $100/ month to my bill December thru’ March. I usually go down to the shop in the am, because it does cool down during the day......
