Harley Topper Restoration Pics
« on: August 24, 2008, 07:06:30 PM »
I have a buddy who has restored a couple of CB750's, and I just got some pics of a Harley Topper scooter he's restored.

Here's the before picture. We don't know why he didn't walk away:

The single cylinder two stroke 160cc engine:

My buddy gave the scooter to a friend, and she rode it in a vintage parade. The parade required that she wear vintage dress. I'd say she nailed it:

Yes, it is an HD. The sidecar was originally designed for cargo. A friend has since made a custom seat for the side car:

A shot of the frame that I included because I think my buddy does meticulous cosmetic work:

Oh, and he did this in 30 days while working full time. Don't worry, I've already called him a rat stinker. ;-)

Wow... my brother in law has a Harley Topper sitting in his shed right now, I wonder if maybe he might restore it after seeing these pics?

Hey Dammit, I'm sure my buddy would be willing to share experience if your brother goes for it. The thing is, I'm not very fond of the new scooters, but that topper is very cool.

By the way, mebbe you could convince your brother by telling him that he'll be able to show up at HD events putting away on his little Topper.

That's probably one of the only reasons he would put effort into restoring it  ;D

He's also got a CZ scooter (which looks suspiciously like a jet ski), a Puch single and a '49 Triumph sitting in his shop at the moment...  I doubt he would go for anything but the Triumph first.

I gotta admit, the CZ would be cooler than the topper, IMO!  Here's what it would look like if it were restored:

Man, the CZ is so cool. It reminds me of a cross between a scooter and a Studebaker.

There's a Cushman ralley coming up in Hiawassee Georgia that I'm going to try to attend.  A couple of guys here have Super Eagles that they put Briggs & Stratton V-Twins in (18 or 21 HP) and install belt=drive conversions.  Much too fast, but fun.
I think a Super Eagle has moved up into the top 5 bikes I want.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!
