removing melted aluminum

What is the recomended method to remove some of the melted remains of the piston from around the rim of the head?

grind/Dremel ?
Chip it away?

i'd probably lightly heat it.  Perhaps the differing expansion rates that the two medals have would make it fall off easily or with just some slight persuasion.
