tach plug
« on: August 26, 2008, 10:16:03 AM »
Hey everybody,  I am looking for a tach plug that goes on directly to my engine case, I removed the tach gear and my alloy housing  is all cracked and banged up.  I know cycle x has them on their website but they look like they attach to the alloy housing

Checked ebay and didnt see anything

my bike is a 72 cb500, anyone have any leads?
thanks a lot

It is not a pressure oil location, just splash.  Any rubber plug or nipple will work with a dab of silicone to hold it and seal.  I do it commonly on my bobbers as they don't run instruments of any kind and I am left with the hole.

I have used vacuum nipples from AutoZone with a smear of Ultra Black RTV silicone.  The last one was a bar end plug from a set of drag bars I used that was trimmed to fit.  Enjoy.
