Clutch Splined Washer
«
on:
April 13, 2005, 12:40:59 AM »
G/Day everyone. I have disassembled the clutch on my 78 F2 to ensure that I had assembled it correctly during my recent restoration. Gear selection has been notchy so I am trying to improve this. The only thing that I can find is that the splined washer - part no. 90432-392-000 - that fits between the clutch centre and a shoulder on the main transmission shaft looks to be worn in the splined area of the washer. The splined area on both sides is bevelled inwards and so does not provide a nice square face to the shoulder on the main shaft. Can someone tell me if a new one is like this and what thickness the washer is. Mine is 3mm thick but reduces to approx. 2mm on the inner edge of the splines. I am trying to purchase a new one from Honda but I suspect that these washers are no longer available. Thanks, Pat from Nth Qld Aust.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you purchase the washer from Honda? I have one on order but there is nil stock in Australia. I will know Monday or Tuesday if it can be supplied from overseas. Can you remember if the faces of the washer are nice and square?

Thanks for that. It would be great if you could get hold of one for me. Can you send it COD to Patrick Larsen 39A Chippendale St Ayr 4807? Thanks, I hope that I can help you one day. Pat

OK I see the picture. The OD is bigger than mine but that should not be a problem so send it up. The condition of the washer in the splined area is much better than mine. Thanks and er peace. Pat

Hey Pat,
I'm a little late joining the fray, but I have 10 NOS washers part #90432-300-303. If you don't have any luck with the other source, you can check to see if my old number has been superseded and if so I have one available.

Brent. Thanks for your input. The centre bit of the part number for my washer is 392 the OD is ??mm and the thickness is 3mm. I suspect that the OD for the earlier models is larger but I am unsure of the thickness. The larger OD is not a problem but the thickness must be 3mm. As you can see by the other replies I have one coming from another Australian member. If on the off chance that the one I receive is not suitable I will contact you via email - I can see your email address in your profile. Thanks for the offer. Pat from Nth Qld Australia.

G/Day Ben. I received your washer today - many thanks. It is in much better condition than mine. I will probably have to machine the OD down to approx 32mm but that will be no problem. Thanks, Pat from Nth Qld.

I received the washer, machined the OD down to 32mm, reinstalled the clutch with new friction plates. Clutch operation is much improved - I would say "normal". Thanks for your support. Pat from Nth Qld
