Sex and motorcycles
« on: August 27, 2008, 04:03:04 PM »
Ok, i found this thread title on the ADVrider site. It just so happens I had read the final word on this
topic recently. I don't know why I was never taught this in Criminology class in the late 70's.

"The motorcycle is obviously a sexual symbol. It's what's called a phallic locomotor symbol. It's an extension of one's body, a power between one's legs." Dr. Bernard Diamond, University of California criminologist, 1963.

I know, I know, we used to do a thing about the delicious throbbing power between between your legs. It goes around, it comes around.

Of all the "opinions" I have heard, that is certainly one of them.

While some men fit that description, I doubt that it is a true statement for most men, or any women.  If it were true, nobody would ride the smaller displacement bikes.

Size does not matter. Just keep repeating that until you believe it. ;D

If the reliability of my bike is an accurate indicator of what's between my legs, I am in big trouble.

They've said the same thing about guns, skyscapers, locomotives, sports cars, totem poles, baseball bats, knives, pit bulls, chain saws, airplanes, and probably about having a lot of "RAM" in your computer.  Says more about the "experts" than it does about the people who have that stuff.  Them experts are some sick bastards.

Yeah, those theories are for people who have never ridden a motorcycle.  They don't have the "cojones" to ride, so they come up with crazy theories to make their little egos feel less like the chickenscat that they are.

Criminologist, psychologists.....doesn't matter.

You never see any bikes parked in front of their office.

I think their just pissed that motorcycles are stealing their business.

People on motorcycles are a happy lot... ;D

I would have included them, but Clinton messed that up.  I hear 'cigar' and I think 'Lewinsky' accompanied by an unwanted mental image.

I agree with that opinion. I believe motorcycles has a big sexual side. It must be something instinctive, but the fact is that if they hadn't, how come so little women are attracted to bikes compared to men? But, women seem to be attracted to men who ride motorcycles, or at least, big, powerful, noisy motorcycles.

I like to wrench and ride my bike, but if it helps to make me look more attractive  ::), much better.

Evolution and society has shaped our ways of flirting, but deep inside, the basic instinct survives: the strongest, fastest, fittest male prevails -like a peacock or a deer-.

Rich men provides an easy life, that seems interesting for many women.
Outlaw bikers provide an adventurous life, that seems interesting for many women too.
Comitted partners that ride bikes may be the best compromise between both extremes: you can provide your household and at the same time you can give some exhilaration.

Be it riding bikes, paragliding, or canyon diving, life must be worth living. It is important to make money so you have no trouble making ends meet, but it is important to put some emotion into your life. I wonder how sexy do women find men who are responsible and, at the same time, live their lives to the full. My wife doesn't like riding but she likes doing tourism. She loves when I take her and show her a new city, even if we eat at McDonalds. But at the end of the day, she wants to rest in a good hotel room, not in a tent.

I don't know what's wrong with wedding rings. If I like a woman, either for casual sex or long-term commitment, I will give it a try regardless of whether she is married or not. Who knows whether she is happy or not? If she only wants me for casual sex, the fact that she is married is not my business. That's something she should deal with, not me. And the same goes the other way round.

I can't stand the old adage of "she was a #$%* for dealing with a married man" C'mon, he could always said no.
