What do you think about this guy/bike?
« on: August 28, 2008, 06:01:39 PM »
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/mcy/813130320.html

This guy has been trying to sell this bike on CL for at least 6 months.  The price used to be $800, now he wants $1,000, don't know why.  But seriously, no title, no headlight, no tail light, won't charge, no front brake, no seat that I can tell (looks like just a pan), in that shape and with no title I might give $200 for it.  With a title would be a different story.

I would pass on that one, there is much better bikes out there for 800-1000 bucks.  Looks to me that he was wanting to put a cafe together and ran short of funds or gave up on the bike.  Keep looking or low ball him, he has been trying to sell it for some time.  Also titling is a pain (in Montana at least) and could be worth looking for another with one.  I still think its funny that people can't post pics of just the bike.

I actually know that guy, he was a friend of my older brother's.  Used to see him at the gym quite a bit.  Him and his dad are into wrenching if I remember right.  Don't ever really talk to him, hadn't seen him in a couple of years.
I never saw him on the bike, so I'd speculate he bought it to tinker with.  He probably bought it thinking it would be a cool cafe but then he realized it would take more work than just a battery.  It seems he's worked on it a little since I last saw it on CL but not enough to be road worthy, hence the comment that he's ridden it around the neighborhood, not to mention the tires won't hold air.
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!

Oh man how could you turn it down with that skull tail light?  I don't get who thinks that stuff is cool.  I guess you'd certainly be set for pumpkin patch when October rolls around.  Skip this one.

I couldn't get through the entire destription because he was YELLING!  That said, I usually pass on stuff with no title unless I need a parts bike.  We have a lot of people around here that seem to think a bill-of-sale is just as good, but they are wrong.

Wasn't there a thread on open forum about what people say when they're selling their bikes? This one would be up there with the best of them. He seems to be very erratic and he's just contradicting himself all along.
